Selling Court
Selling Court is a detached private home in Selling, near Faversham. Our client had recently moved in and wished to create an open plan kitchen and dining space for entertaining friends and family.
Through a programme of workshops with the client, we carried out a series of spatial studies, using drawings and visualisations, to test options and refine the design to create a space that is both functional and uplifting. Physical material samples were used throughout the process to help inform the selection of internal finishes and bring the spatial concept to life.
Our proposal removed a loadbearing wall to connect the existing living and dining rooms to create a generous open plan space. The space benefits from multiple aspect windows that bring daylight and sunlight into the space throughout the day. An existing kitchen window was enlarged to form a new door creating a direct physical and visual connection between the kitchen and garden.
At the heart of the space, the kitchen was carefully reconfigured to optimise the layout of appliances and make best use of the available space. Arranged around a central kitchen island, bespoke kitchen cabinetry and joinery elements were used to knit the kitchen, dining and seating zones together and bring a warmth and unifying character to the space.
